Buchan Special Projects have experience in providing standalone classroom blocks from individual classrooms through to multi room blocks including associated facilities.

We recently completed a classroom block for Hunloke School for Derbyshire County Council who had an urgent requirement for a major rebuild due to part of the school being destroyed by fire. The scheme consisted of six classrooms, library, I. T. areas, reception, offices, staff room and WC facilities.

The requirement was for a robust solution resistant to vandalism and fire, with the feel of a traditionally built structure. A short on-site construction period to minimise disruption to staff and pupils.

The building also needed to be thermally efficient with a minimum 50 year life span.

Buchan Special Projects proposed a scheme comprising pre-cast concrete sandwich panels with a Sto render external finish to match the original school.

Due to access restrictions the walls had to be erected in phases in sequence with the floor slab construction. Despite this, the whole project including demolition, excavation of foundations to completion of full fit-out, was completed in a fraction of the time of more traditional methods of construction.
